Important Addresses

Candian Forces personnel and DND/NPF civilian employees work in many locations across the National Capital region but the majority are concentrated in the following core buildings:

1- M Gen George R. Pearkes Building: 101 Colonel By Drive, Ottawa,

Located across from the Rideau Centre and next to the Rideau Canal. It is considered the hub of most in-clearing and administrative activities.

Services:

•Cafeteria: located on the 2nd floor, South Tower, operated by CANEX. Full breakfast and lunch service. Open from 0630 to 1500 hrs, Monday to Friday.

• Café Express: located on the 2nd floor, North Tower, offers a variety of hot and cold beverages and light lunches. Open from 0630 to 1530 hrs, Monday to Friday.

• CANEX Express Mart: located on the 2nd floor, Centre Block South (near the cafeteria entrance), carries a full range of confectionery items, daily newspapers and bus passes and tickets for both OC Transpo and STO. Also offers other services such as dry cleaning. Open from 0700 to 1600 hrs, Monday to Friday.

• Beauty Salon/Barber Shop: located on the 2nd floor, South Tower (across from the CANEX Express Mart).

• Mini-gym: (5th floor, North Tower) is the largest DND owned/occupied gym in the downtown area. Offers a wide

variety of fitness classes and fitness equipment as well as CF EXPRES tests. Hours of operation: 24/7.

• Sports Stores: (4th floor, North Tower) Hours of operation: 0800-1500 hrs, Monday to Friday. Tel.: 613-995-2696.

This building is located right in the heart of Ottawa. It is only a short stroll to the many restaurants and shops in the Byward market.

2- Cumberland Building: 400 Cumberland Street, Ottawa,

This building is located at the corner of Cumberland and Rideau Streets. It is the home of some of the Air Element sections of the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), ADM(Mat) and Director General Aerospace Equipment Program Management (DGAEPM).

Services:

• Cafeteria: “Bell’s Pastry”, located north of the main entrance, offers a wide variety of snack foods and beverages as well as hot and cold meals for breakfast and lunch. Hours of operation: 0600 to 1600 hrs, Monday to Friday.

• Mini-gym: a small fitness facility is located on the ground floor and offers cardio and weight equipment. Hours of operation: 0600 to 1800 hrs, Monday to Friday.

• Banking: there is an ATM in the cafeteria.

Getting there:

• Bus stop: Laurier Station and MacKenzie-King Station are the closest bus stations. There are many other bus stops and routes along Rideau Street.

• Bike storage: there is ample bicycle storage available at the underground parking entrance on the ground floor and in the underground parking area.

3- Constitution Building: 305 Rideau Street,

This building is located at the corner of Rideau Street and King Edward Boulevard.

The Constitution Building houses various sections from NDHQ, including 76 Comm Group, the National

Investigation Service (NIS) and the Director Military Pay (D Mil Pay).

Services:

• Restaurant: “The Forum”, located on the main floor of the building, offers a full range of meals. Hours of operation: 0530 to 1530 hrs, Monday to Friday.

• Kiosk: adjacent to the cafeteria and offers snacks and beverages as well as a dry cleaning service.

• Mini-gym: there are no fitness facilities within the building, but showers are available. Gym facilities are available at Cumberland and at the MGen George Pearkes Bldg.

• Banking: an ATM is located at the main entrance.

Getting there:

• Bus stop: Laurier Station and MacKenzie-King Station are the closest bus stations. There are many other bus stops and routes along Rideau Street

4- Tunney’s Pasture, Building 16: 101 Goldenrod Driveway, Tunney’s Pasture, Ottawa.

This location is known as the Department of National Defence Data Centre.

Services:

• Cafeteria: “Lorne Murphy Foods”, located in the northwest corner of the building offers a full range of meals for breakfast and lunch. Hours of operation: 0630 to 1445 hrs, Monday to Friday.

• Mini-gym: a small fitness centre with cardio and weight equipment is located on the ground floor, west of the main

entrance. Hours of operation: 0600 to 1800 hrs, Monday toFriday.

• Banking: there are no banking facilities on site, but they are available within walking distance.

Getting there:

• Parking: there are different parking options at Tunney’s Pasture: Street parking (maximum of 3 hours) costs $2/hour. Daily parking in the main parking lot (lot 63) costs $10/day. A monthly parking pass can also be purchased for $100/month. All parking inquiries must be processed through Impark at 1-877-909-6199.

• Bus stop: Tunney’s Pasture Station

• Bike storage: there is ample bicycle storage available inside the security gate surrounding the building, next to the guard post.

5- Louis St-Laurent Building: 555 Boulevard de la

Carrière, Gatineau (Hull sector)

This building is home to a variety of NDHQ Directorates, mainly ADM(Mat).

Services:

• Cafeteria: operated by CANEX and located on the ground floor. A full meal service is offered for breakfast and lunch. Hours of operation: 0700 to 1300 hrs, Monday to Friday.

• Tim Hortons: open from 0630 to 1500 hrs.

• CANEX Express Mart: located on the ground floor, offers food products and a dry cleaning service. Hours of operation: 0730 to 1530 hrs, Monday to Friday.

• Barber Shop: located near the CANEX Express Mart, offers appointments and walk-in service. Hours of operation: 0545 to 1200 hrs, Monday to Thursday.

• Mini-gym: training facilities are located in the basement and offer a variety of cardio and weight equipment, as well as fitness classes and CF EXPRES testing. Hours of operation: 0600 to 1800 hrs, Monday to Friday.

• Banking: An ATM is located on the ground floor, near the main entrance.

• Barber Shop: (located in the basement) Open Thursday only, from 0700 to 1400 hrs. Call 613-741-2997 for appointments.

• Dry Cleaning: a drop-off service is offered through CANEX at the cafeteria.

• Banking: there is an ATM on the ground floor, beside the cafeteria.

Getting there:

• Parking: a total of 928 indoor and outdoor parking spaces are available; there is a parking waiting list for those newly posted to Louis St-Laurent Building. Please contact the building “Standard Parking Associate” at 819-776-2111.

• Bus stop: there is a dedicated bus stop in front of the building.• Bike storage: there is ample bicycle storage available at the rear entrance of the building.

6- Coventry Building: 285 Coventry Road, Ottawa,

This building is located across the street from the Ottawa Lynx Stadium. Very close to downtown and 417.

The Coventry building is home to elements of Chief Military Personnel (CMP).

Services:

• Cafeteria: operated by CANEX and located on the ground floor. Full breakfast and lunch meal service is available.

Hours of operation: 0700 to 1500 hrs, Monday to Friday.

• Mini-gym: The gym is a CF EXPRES testing site and offers cardio and weight equipment as well as fitness classes. Hours of operation: 0600 to 1800 hrs, Monday to Friday.

• Barber Shop: (located in the basement) Open Thursday only, from 0700 to 1400 hrs. Call 613-741-2997 for appointments.

• Dry Cleaning: a drop-off service is offered through CANEX at the cafeteria.

• Banking: there is an ATM on the ground floor, beside the cafeteria.

Getting there:

• Parking: there are a limited number of visitor parking spaces in front of the building and a multi-level car

park behind the building (accessible by tunnel to the main building).

• Bus stop: there is a bus stop at the corner of Lola Street and Coventry Road.

• Bike storage: there are bicycle racks in the car park.

• CFSU(O) Shuttle: Star Top route.

7- Star Top Building: 1600 Star Top Road, Ottawa,

Located just off Innes Road, near the junction of Hwy 417 and Innes Road. It is home to the four Operational Commands (Canada COM, CANOSCOM, CEFCOM, CANSOFCOM) and to a Detachment of CFSU(O).

Services:

• Cafeteria: located on the ground floor; operated by CANEX, offers full breakfast and lunch service. Hours of

operation: 0700 to 1600 hrs.

• Dry Cleaning: a drop-off service is offered through CANEX at the cafeteria.

• Mini-gym: (located on the main floor) offers cardio and weight equipment, CF EXPRES tests and fitness classes.

Getting there:

• Parking: there are 14 visitor parking spaces at the front entrance of the building. Employees posted to Star Top must contact their sponsors for parking arrangements within the facilities. Additional daily parking is available in the lot behind the fenced area for $6/day. Monthly passes are available through Gilad Parking at 613-226-2000.

• Bus stop: at the corner of Star Top Road and Dufferin Street.

• Bike storage: there is ample bike storage at the front and rear entrances of the building.

• CFSU(O) Shuttle service: Star Top Express route.

Other Buildings in Ottawa:

National Printing Bureau: 45 boul Sacré-coeur,

Gatineau (Hull sector), near the MacDonald-Cartier

Bridge exit. The NPB is home to the Supply Assistance Group

and to the Clothing Stores.

Labelle/CANEX Building: 4210 Labelle Street,

Ottawa, located at the junction of Hwy 417 and St-Laurent

Boulevard. One side of the building is home to some

elements of the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), ADM (Mat), ADM

(HR-Civ) and Director General Personnel and Family Support

Services (DGPFSS). The other side houses the CANEX

Retail Store.

Montfort Campus – CF Health Services

Ottawa Clinic (CF H Svcs (O)): 713 Montreal

Road, Ottawa, at the corner of Aviation Parkway. The

CF Health Services Ottawa Clinic is co-located with the

Montfort Hospital, in the new building on the north side

of the campus. Services include: sick parade, immunization,

pharmacy, laboratory, physiotherapy and mental

health services.

Canadian Forces Station Leitrim (CFS Leitrim):

3545 Leitrim Road, Gloucester, Ottawa, is home

to the Canadian Forces Information Operations Group

Headquarters (CFIOG HQ), the Canadian Forces Network

Operations Centre (CFNOC) and the CFS Leitrim Signals

Intelligence (SIGINT) Operations Centre.

Connaught Range and Primary Training

Center (CRPTC): 35 Shirley Blvd, Nepean, located

adjacent to the Ottawa River, comprising roughly 2, 600

acres and enclosing the Shirley’s Bay Crown Game Preserve.

Located roughly 20 minutes west of downtown Ottawa,

CRPTC provides infrastructure and training support resources

for the cadet organizations and other organizations in the

NCR, with priority for the Reserve Force and cadets on

weekends and in the summer. It is also the site of various

national activities, including the annual Canadian Forces

Small Arms Competition and the Dominion of Canada Rifle

Association Annual Prize Meeting.

13- Uplands Site: the Uplands site is adjacent to the

Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport. Formerly

known as CFB Uplands and later as CFB Ottawa (South).

Uplands was decommissioned as a base in 1996, though

the buildings and tarmac remained the property of the

Canadian Forces, with the VIP transport unit 412 Squadron

operating from these facilities and the Uplands airfield, which

is now the Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport.

Additionally, the Canada Reception Centre is located there.
